Easiest Fruit Salad Ever
EASIEST FRUIT SALAD EVER
Basic Recipe
1 large (what my Mother called a "#3 can") fruit cocktail (I always use Del
Monte)
1 can (#2 can - not the 'little one' ) pineapple chunks (I use Dole)
1 jar stem-less maraschino cherries (could use the 'small one', but I use
the big one)
1 can peach pie filling (I use Comstock)
1 package frozen sliced strawberries, slightly thawed
1/2 LARGE bag mini-marshmallows
1 LARGE bag chopped pecans
Whole strawberries, fresh or frozen, for garnish, optional
Drain first three incredients (I save the 'juice' to use later in Jello or slushies). Mix in the whole can of peach pie filling and the whole package of the slightly thawed strawberries (in other words, don't drain either) and add the mini-marshmallows and the pecans. Chill.
That's "IT " !!! Enjoy.
There are several 'beauties' of this recipe, the first being that it can be 'stretched' with using the
whole bag of the marshmallows, or really more of any of the other ingredients. However, do NOT 'substitute' ingredients with anything. A friend once didn't have the peach pie filling and used apple pie filing - she said it was 'disastrous' !!!
Another advantage is that it's extremely 'quick' and can either be made 'ahead' or made right downat the 'wire' of needing it. Also, the ingredients can be transported easily and 'put together' at alocation (just don't forget a LARGE bowl, the can opener and the collander).
Also, it stays wonderfully in the refrigerator for almost a week.
